We are the MIT chapter of the Young Democratic Socialists of America (YDSA), the youth wing of the largest socialist party in the United States, the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).
Our society is besieged by escalating crises, from endless wars to buckling democracy, from faltering wages to crushing living costs, from AI displacement to climate catastrophe. Our institutions, rooted in the self-preservation of a fundamentally broken system, have no answer to the slate of failures we face. In this understanding, the only way forward is a radical, independent movement of the working class to decide its own destiny.
We are socialists at MIT committed to building up and fighting for an anti-imperialist, socialist movement here on campus and in Boston. MIT YDSA was founded in the wake of the Trump administration's onslaught of terror at home and abroad; we refuse to stand idle as the technologies that surveil our immigrant neighbors are built on this very campus. We recognize that this violence is a natural product of the capitalist system, and that the only means of building a society that affirms the dignity of the working class is through dismantling this system.
